Daily Dump: Catching Up, Irregular Warfare, Great Power Competition, Guerrilla Diplomacy and More – October / November

Having been recently certified as an official instructor, I am playing catch up after almost a month away from the keys. While I was in class, I was still driving to work everyday so that made time for podcasts but not much else. With that in mind, today’s post will be very podcast heavy. I was able to take in quite a few and there are definitely some must listens over the last couple weeks. While the list is a bit overwhelming, I suggest that you look back to find a way forward with: What Have We Learned from Twenty Years of War? from the Irregular Warfare Project. This is really good and if you are interested in UW even slightly, you should give it a listen. I purchased the book, Guerilla Diplomacy because of it. Sticking with the UW theme, The Modern War Institute has, On Resistance which provides a unique perspective on preparing for resistance prior to occupation. It makes sense, but it has to be a tough pill to swallow for a country to think of themselves in the position of planning FOR occupation. On a more depressing note, Ep. 57 — The Emperor Was Nude All Along from Generation Jihad dissects what went wrong in Aghanistan. If you are into reading this weekend, look no further than The Modern War Institute’s, Teaching Technology, Innovation, and Great Power Competition at Stanford, Part 2: Semiconductors and Strategy. There is so much here that I don’t know where to begin. Hopefully, I will be able to resume regular posting next week.

Inspired by the Cognitive Raider Initiative, The Cognitive Warrior Project has put together a daily list of diverse articles that can easily be chosen from to play a part in developing a more mentally agile warfighter that embraces the adaptation required for tomorrow’s battlefield. Our intent is to create a space where you can choose one or two articles a day (about 10 minutes) instead of mindlessly scrolling social media.

As a reminder: The Cognitive Warrior Project is a private media site, and it is not affiliated in any way with Special Operation Forces, the Department of Defense or the U.S. Government. None of the U.S. Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, DoD or Space Force have endorsed, supported, directed, or participated in the creation of the content at this site, or in the creation of the site itself. It’s just a media site that happens to cover the U.S Military, DoD and other National Intelligence Assets.
