Lunch Box Quotes

Lunch Box Quotes

The church that we go to is very community-focused. At least twice a year, they have a Serve Day where about 400 people volunteer to do various projects that include painting at the local schools, picking up trash, spreading mulch, and even building a deck on someone’s house. This year, the project I led was pulling weeds and vines out of a chain-link fence that surrounded the High School soccer field, which took 12 of us about 3.5 hours. Anyway, there must have been some poison ivy in that fence, and this daily reminder of trying to do good is kind of getting annoying.

Lunch Box Quotes are notes I include in the kids’ lunches every day. Number 1 gets a text, but 2-4 get a handwritten napkin. Now, since they pack their own lunches, I also write about them here.

Quotes:

1. “You can’t expect to be great if you only put in the effort of the average man.” – Theodore Roosevelt

2. “Characterize people by their actions and you will never be fooled by their words.” – Barb Schmidt

3. “Your mind is a battlefield, be it’s commander. Not it’s soldier.” – Kai Green

4. “Act rightly, despite how you feel. Emotions will pass and only progress will remain.” – Eliud Kipchoge

Bonus Quote: “Dead people receive more flowers than living ones because regret is stronger than gratitude.” – Anne Frank

I didn’t want to give the bonus quote to any of the kids; I don’t think they deserve something that dark and cynical.
