I had my first real run-in with the wild animal known as a teenage daughter yesterday. When I am old and wrecked by alzheimer’s, Dear Lord, please never let me forget the day I washed the bonnet. The range of emotions, the depth of the anger, and the crying, coupled with a myriad of unrelated reasons, was truly something to behold. She ended one of her rants with this number, “…And what do Genovesa Ground Finches even have to do with Espinosa Cactus Finches?… Oh yeah. They’re on the same island.” Love her.
