According to the internet, there are three phases of recovery from surgery: Immediate Recovery Period, Intermediate Phase, and Convalescent / Restoration Phase. I believe the father-in-law is likely still in the Immediate Recovery Period, which focuses on rest, protection, pain management, and swelling. I think he has stayed in this phase a little longer than the doctors would like. There have been some ups and downs, but yesterday ended on a positive note. Today, we pray for continued steps forward, strength, positivity, and endurance. It is going to be a longer road than anyone would like to walk, but the destination is worth it. Love you, stay strong, and stay in the fight.
As a reminder, Lunch Box Quotes are notes I include in the kids’ lunches every day. Number 1 gets a text, but 2-4 get a handwritten napkin.

To celebrate Sam Houston’s crossing the Red River and entering Texas for the first time 193 years ago today, I’m making chili. Naturally, I’m using Sam’s recipe. pic.twitter.com/c9yCiMaDIe
