Some quick X threads from the last few days. This one is a little longer than normal because I am trying to clear out my bookmarks from my days away from writing. For the most part, these posts are about news in National Security. We do the scrolling so you don’t have to! This post also serves as an open thread. I welcome readers to post comments or additional links related to national security or history, even if they are not directly related to the links below.
🇯🇵 The approval rating of Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s government has risen following the diplomatic row with China, now reaching a record 75%. pic.twitter.com/3w8KhDG5Wq

We have been conditioned to fear all forms of nationalism, and it is destroying Western Civilization. I truly don’t understand the disdain for being proud of and celebrating your country. In Japan, nationalism is back, and I think it is a beautiful thing. Now, go have babies. A lot of them!
Is something being *done* about this? Or are we just gonna kind of be sad about it while China openly destroys stuff? https://t.co/vAbyTt19h6

I will continue to bang on this drum. Every. Single. Day. The slow destruction of the oceans is the most important, least-talked-about topic of our generation.
China’s state subsidized fishing fleet over fishes and uses damaging methods like Sea floor scraping,
These fleets also hide their locations and fish in the waters of foreign countries. This requires international attention as many governments cannot counter these fleets. https://t.co/FHT4wGJ1EL pic.twitter.com/MgnykjqW9p

Just in case you aren’t getting it. Here is one more. This is intentional. They are subsidizing this to destroy the environment with the intent of cornering the market on fish production. They do this with every industry. China has zero regard for the environment, sustainability, or sovereignty. Every environmental initiative the West has attempted for the last 30 years has been undone by its fishing and industrial practices. I am not saying we don’t need to protect the environment. I am, however, saying that every purchase of a Chinese-made product, either directly or indirectly, funds the destruction of the planet. This needs to be understood and stated with equivocation.
The Philippines’ transparency initiative has always been grounded in the truthful, evidence-based reporting of China’s unlawful and aggressive actions in the West Philippine Sea. This is precisely why we continue to earn the clear and growing support of the international… https://t.co/y8PDm6tyT6

The Philippines has taken a position of radical transparency in the positional fight with China. For those of you who do not know, the transparency initiative is defined as: “a f documenting and publicizing China’s coercive actions in the South China Sea (West Philippine Sea), using evidence like videos and reports to counter misinformation and rally international support.” For the cause, these posts are me, doing my part, and you can too. Just share these articles and any others like this. This is about the sovereignty of our allies and the competition with China.
🇮🇶 IRAQ FOCUSES ON OIL AND GOVERNMENT REFORMS
Recent developments in Iraq reflect the nation’s strategic focus on oil operations and ideological shifts in governance. The implications of these actions may have significant impacts on the country’s political and economic…

This makes my heart happy. The Iraqi people deserve this and path for a better life. Here is the key quote: “As Iraq approaches a new phase following the UN mission’s conclusion, the emphasis on economic reform, oil sector revitalization, and internal political negotiations paints a picture of a nation striving towards stability amidst its multifaceted regional challenges.”
There was a time when the word “martyr” meant exactly what it should mean: a person killed because of their faith. Not a person who kills in the name of it.
That’s the original meaning across Christianity, Judaism, early Islam, and even secular human-rights history. A martyr was…

We are only allowed so much happiness. This is the best definition of the word “martyr,” and how it has changed, I have ever read. It is now an inversion of core truths, unrecognizable in its original meaning and intent. In a just society, there can be no place for celebrating the current form of martyrdom.
Russia has not successfully sent a mission into deep space in five decades. Their only human spaceport just collapsed. They are diverting all civil space investment to the war on Ukraine. https://t.co/piYT2bF2aL

The space race has only two real competitors: the US and China. Russia’s once great space program only lives in news reals and memories.
The long-awaited American nuclear renaissance is here, thanks to President Trump!
As global energy demand continues to grow, the U.S. must lead the commercialization of affordable nuclear energy through the rapid deployment and export of next-generation nuclear technology.

Repeat this with me: Energy security is National security. This is the way.
You think it’s over? In 722 Spain had fallen under Muslim rule.
300 Christian warriors prepared to make a last stand. They had no kingdom, no empire, only faith, iron, and courage.
By 722 AD, the Umayyad Caliphate had conquered almost the entire Iberian Peninsula. Spain was… pic.twitter.com/AqIjFX3SFz

Europe’s last stand. Just some good history here.
As the Continental Army retreated through New Jersey toward Pennsylvania in November/December 1776, General Nathanael Greene’s civilian aide, Thomas Paine, was with them. During that time at night in Greene’s camp, and already famous for the pamphlet “Common Sense” published in… pic.twitter.com/YGfgJwWqPO
