December 17, 2025 – Daily X Threads

This is becoming a pattern. It’s a busy season, man.

Some X threads from the last few days. For the most part, these posts are about news in National Security. We do the scrolling so you don’t have to! This post also serves as an open thread. I welcome readers to post comments or additional links related to national security or history, even if they are not directly related to the links below.

This is your must-listen-to podcast of the day. I don’t disagree with anything here. Key stat: 8 million displaced Venezuelans. This destabilizes the entire region. Fixing this goes a long way to Making the Americas Great Again.

Very good. Maduro has to go.

We have local support.

If the School of War Podcast is your must-listen to, this is a close second. I have mixed feelings about the military realignment. Generally, I am not a fan of centralization, but I also don’t like the competing interests of separate regions. Bottom line, the government needs unity of effort with all ships rowing in the same direction. Currently, that doesn’t seem to happen; there are fiefdoms that compete for resources and attention. I do like the focus on actual security of the homeland vs abroad, and that ties into the weapon of mass destruction designation for fentanyl. 100,000-200,000 deaths a year…that is more than any bombs or war, and it is beyond time we took it seriously. The drain and disruption that this causes the nation is incalculable. Because this generally doesn’t affect the doner class, Washington didn’t care. The fentanyl epidemic is unrestricted warfare intentionally brought to the shores of this nation by China.

China is an empire. Taiwan is an independent country. It is not and never has been a part of the People’s Republic of China. Strategic Ambiguity needs to be over, and Taiwan needs to be defended.

China’s ambitions go way beyond Taiwan…their purpose is to build economic dependency and leverage dependency for political advantage.”

Facts.

Let’s say it together: Taiwan is a sovereign state.

This is good stuff and requires stewardship. We need to be proud of our legacy of protection.
