I’ve been hanging drywall, and there is an all-encompassing soreness that can only be achieved by years of inactivity and physical neglect…
Beyond that, there is a range of emotions this morning. My Uncle Jim passed a few days ago. I was not able to travel back for the funeral, but the image of his flag-draped casket on one of his first trucks is sticking with me. Uncle Jim was one of the hardest-working men I have ever met. I will never forget when we were changing the tires on a semi, I was around 20, he was in his upper 60’s, and he completely worked circles around me. Jim was just shy of 97 when he passed. Then, there is Number 1. Some kids go to places like Panama City for Spring Break, and they might even get arrested while doing so. But not him. He begins his 3-day solo fishing and hiking trek through the Lineville Gorge this afternoon. And then there was Number 3 this morning, slowed by the grind of lacrosse and school, I got to witness a comical level of frustration imposed by the sliced cheese sticking together as she was making her sandwich for her lunch. It’s going to be a good day.
As a reminder, Lunch Box Quotes are notes I include in the kids’ lunches every day. Number 1 gets a text, but 2-4 get handwritten napkins.
