Lunch Box Quotes

Patience – The ability to endure delay, provocation, or suffering calmly without complaining, becoming angry, or acting impulsively. It involves tolerance, self-control, and steady perseverance when facing difficult situations or waiting.

Two teams, going in two different directions, and continued growth for Number 4. The girls are riding high this week after two big in-conference wins, and Number 3 is playing great. It is something to behold, and I am so proud of her. Number 4 continues to show improvement in her lacrosse game, which is all you can ask for at her age. It is fun seeing her grow and her abilities develop. The boys’ team, on the other hand, is struggling to find its identity after two tough losses. Anger and division are building, and at least temporarily, the fun is no longer there.  Unfortunately, I have not watched the girls play, and I am not gonna lie, my mind has been consumed by anger and frustration from this past week. The bonus quote below was as much for me as anyone else this weekend. Even serve day, a normally uplifting morning, where we gather as a church and go out into the community to do work projects for others, was unable to shake my anger and overly negative mood from the boys’ play.

The shift. This weekend’s Church Service was structured around Acts 1:6-8, where the apostles are trying to understand the Lord’s mission, their purpose, and ultimately patience. To truly understand this for our Sunday evening gathering, I looked up the definition of patience. I am not sure why we, as parents, get so emotionally invested in our children’s sports, and in the end, we cannot ‘mistake the weather of our mind for the sky of our being.

As a reminder, Lunch Box Quotes are notes I include in the kids’ lunches every day. Number 1 gets a text, and 2-4 get handwritten napkins.
