There are two up coming events that I wanted to bring to your attention. I am planning on sitting in on both of these FREE events!
The first is:
The event is being lead by Daniel Manning, the Lead Instructor for Human Intelligence an organization that teaches critical thinking, collaboration and creativity skills. I have participated in a couple of their sessions and I have never left one without learning something either about myself or others. The workshop is interactive and provides some space to have a conversation about the current political environment. This should be a lot fun… fortunately or unfortunately I think I will be able to contribute to this conversation! There are two sessions:

The second event:
The keynote speaker for this event will be retired Marine Corps Four Star General John R. Allen, President of The Brookings Institution, who will be joined by a world-class panel of experts that will provide insights into what the Next Generation of Disinformation Campaigns and actors will be.

Propaganda and lying are as old as humanity itself and the post-print social media age has created a hyperactive environment of sharing information including lies.
Disinformation and misinformation pose a direct threat to the credibility of our democratic institutions. 2020 has been an extraordinary year where we have seen disinformation spike to unprecedented levels across a spectrum of subjects ranging from COVID-19 to the US elections.
As we struggle to separate truth from lies even the methodology, standards and the institutions to do so are under attack from disinformation. We know this has been a chaotic year and there have been significant efforts to make social media and institutions more resilient to manipulation but we also know that we need to be better prepared for what comes next in these information wars.
