Daily Dump: European Resistance to the Nuclear Deal, The View from Jakarta, Funding the Jihad in Afghanistan, Endangered Penguins in Africa and More – September 21, 2021

The European fallout from the nuclear sub deal spreads to Germany. According to DW: German minister: Submarine dispute is ‘a wake-up call’ stating that Europe “cannot exclusively rely on others” sparking rumors of an independent European Military. In addition, The Australian Strategic Policy Institute reports in, Australia’s nuclear submarines and AUKUS: the view from Jakarta that Indonesia views the deal cautiously as they are concerned about a “the continuing arms race and military buildup in the region.” The Royal United Service Institute asks the question, Afghanistan: A Safe Haven for Global Jihadism Once More? Answer, probably. But if you ask Tom Joscelyn and Bill Roggio on Generation Jihad’s latest podcast, Episode 56 — The Resurrection of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan  the answer is definitely. Regardless, not much has changed as the Taliban’s finances will rely on drugs, ores and China – Asia Times. To that end India seizes $2.7 bln Afghan heroin haul amid Kabul takeover chaos – Reuters. And for something different, The New York Times reports: Endangered African Penguins, With Multiple Bee Stings, Are Found Dead.
