{"id":1327,"date":"2024-11-14T18:19:53","date_gmt":"2024-11-14T23:19:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cognitivewarriorproject.com\/?p=1327"},"modified":"2024-11-14T18:31:03","modified_gmt":"2024-11-14T23:31:03","slug":"an-economic-strategy-for-china","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cognitivewarriorproject.com\/?p=1327","title":{"rendered":"An Economic Strategy for China"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"boldgrid-section\">\n<div class=\"container\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-lg-12 col-md-12 col-xs-12 col-sm-12\">\n<p class=\"\">One of our primary missions at The Cognitive Warrior Project is <em>\u201cto promote discussions that will better prepare entry-level Special Operations Forces for the challenges they face while \u2018growing up SOF.\u2019\u201d<\/em> In support of that mission, we feel that special operations forces require an understanding of the battlefield that goes beyond bullets and tactics. To that end, we try to promote articles and podcasts that can aid in a more complete understanding of the challenges that we face. And, in the interest of toilet time, we try to do it in about 500 words.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Today, we will highlight some key passages from the latest <a href=\"https:\/\/podcasts.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/school-of-war\/id1589160645\">School of War Podcast<\/a> where Aaron MacLean interviews:<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>&nbsp;\u201cRandall Schriver, Chairman of the Board at The Project 2049 Institute, and Dan Blumenthal, a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute [to discuss] the China Economic and Strategy Initiative &#8211; Defeating the CCP: A Running Start\u2026 and a road map for economic competition\u2014and warfare\u2014between the U.S. and China.\u201d&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Needless to say, we recommend listening to the whole episode.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><iframe style=\"width: 100%; max-width: 660px; overflow: hidden; border-radius: 10px;\" src=\"https:\/\/embed.podcasts.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/ep-158-randall-schriver-and-dan-blumenthal-on\/id1589160645?i=1000676636064\" height=\"175\" frameborder=\"0\" sandbox=\"allow-forms allow-popups allow-same-origin allow-scripts allow-storage-access-by-user-activation allow-top-navigation-by-user-activation\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Here are some Quotes:<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>\u201c\u2026the Chinese have been engaging in economic warfare for some time against the United States actively trying to de-industrialize the United States using their leverage in the global supply chain in critical sectors to try to influence things at a diplomatic political level\u2026\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">How difficult will this be?<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>\u201cIn a way, this is more difficult than the Cold War struggle with the Soviet Union because of the deep economic integration, and globalization of trade\u2026 so we&#8217;re at a starting point or a leading edge point where we really have to optimize that trade economic relationship for our broader strategic interests.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On decoupling\u2026<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>\u201c\u2026when it comes to the United States being reliant and dependent on China in certain key sectors like critical minerals is something we identify where China is just dominating the processing of\u2026so many of the US goods, the electric vehicle supply chain, other supply chains are dependent now on China for the processing of critical minerals, that cannot continue\u2026 We have to starve the Chinese military-industrial economy from US capital.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">How did we get here? Well, they didn\u2019t use the exact words but I think they could be summarized by greed and hubris\u2026or perhaps a more charitable description of naivete. They continue:<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>\u201c\u2026I don&#8217;t see a future where we have alignment with China peace and stability in the region and beyond as long as the CCP remains in power\u2026 I just think part of our strategy should not only be to weaken the economy\u2026 but also put pressure on the CCP and hold things at risk that they see as tied to their continued grip on power\u2026 getting into the game of political warfare ourselves, getting into the game of supporting dissidents more outwardly\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>\u2026 it might in fact be the case that the most important geography in a Taiwan contingency is the Malacca Strait, not the Taiwan Strait itself.
