I’ve got two completely unrelated media you should check out today. The latest video from Cappy Army is your must-watch video of the day. In it, he discusses a more intrusive level of US involvement in counter-narcotics across the Americas and the larger trend of anti-cartel efforts established in the Americas Security Summit. The increased US involvement is not limited only to Mexico, but Bolivia, Ecuador, and Colombia are also called out for recent activity. The biggest change in US policy has been looking at the cartel problem as a transnational criminal organization, using counter terrorism techniques and categorizing the cartels as insurgencies instead of merely a law enforcement operation. This change really matters as more assets are available to take the fight to the cartel. And it is not only US assets that are increasing, as each country is stepping up its own spending in national defense. But the craziest part of this whole video is how they used an OnlyFans model to track a cartel kingpin. Absolutely crazy story. Honestly, the video is so good, I question whether some of it should be discussed. Oh, what a time it is to be in 7th Group. Check it out!
The second completely unrelated topic is the tweet below. This could be the single best defense of Robert E. Lee I have ever read, and it was written by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. So the next time anyone criticizes your southern heritage or denigrates statues or memorials to the Confederacy, remember this. (I am not going to quote the entire post to encourage you to follow the link yourself, but the conclusion is quite good.)
“…From deep conviction, I simply say this: a nation of men of Lee’s calibre would be unconquerable in spirit and soul. Indeed, to the degree that present-day American youth will strive to emulate his rare qualities, including his devotion to this land as revealed in his painstaking efforts to help heal the Nation’s wounds once the bitter struggle was over, we, in our own time of danger in a divided world, will be strengthened and our love of freedom sustained. Such are the reasons that I proudly display the picture of this great American on my office wall.
Sincerely,
Dwight D. Eisenhower”
On August 1, 1960, President Dwight D. Eisenhower received a letter from a frustrated citizen named Leon Scott. Mr. Scott asked Eisenhower why he had a picture of Robert E. Lee in his office. This was Eisenhower’s response to Mr. Scott:
“Dear Dr. Scott,
Respecting your August 1… pic.twitter.com/bf6dKAIh15
