Carpet has memory. The laughter, the tears, the arguments, every skinned knee, all the spilled milk, but mostly the piss. In our defense, you can’t differentiate a water stain from a pet stain, but after 10 years with four kids and pets, accidents are going to happen. That was gross. Let me rewind a bit to catch you up. We had a rather large section in our upstairs that was unfinished. We have always planned to finish it out and turn the space into an upstairs living room and an office. Well, 10 years later, we finally got it done (basically). To finish the space, we needed to add carpet to that room, and that got us looking at the carpet in the rest of the house. It also needed to go. And in the interest of saving a dollar or two, we decided that we would move all the furniture, rip it out, and dispose of it ourselves. While moving the furniture, we noticed how bad the paint on the walls had gotten. So the rooms also needed to be painted. 10 years is a long time for paint and carpet when you have four kids, two cats, and a dog! Which brings us back to the carpet. Carpet really remembers the cats and dog. Anyway, this project has consumed a lot of time the last few weeks…months…years, but we can finally see the finish line!
Typically, Lunch Box Quotes are notes I include in the kids’ lunches every day. Number 1 gets a text, and 2-4 get handwritten napkins, but for the Summer Edition, we will be searching for consistency and hopefully a routine. Today, a note for Number 2 and texts for the others.

Quotes:
1.“To walk the path of the free, we follow in the footsteps of the brave. Putting one foot in front of the other until there is no turning back. All fights are not the same, but the walk always starts the same way, with a bold first step.” – The Walk – UFC (I can’t embed this video, but it was awesome)
2. “Trust in God and keep your powder dry.” – American pioneer proverb
3.“Do everything in your power to prepare. Train like it matters. Fight like it counts. Then kneel and trust God with the outcome.” – Bear Grylls
4. “Nature is a haunted house–but Art–is a house that tries to be haunted.” – Emily Dickinson
