I’m not sure if there is an uptick in reporting or just my current algorithm, but the China problem in our universities is real and unquestionably undermines our national security. The fact that our universities are openly working with China is mind-blowing.
Many US Universities have been collaborating with Chinese institutions connected to the PLA. This research severely undermines national security.
The Pentagon has now given 30 prominent Universities till the end of the month to review risky research with China. đź”— pic.twitter.com/Z9qrTCjkkG

Here are some key excerpts:
“Thirty U.S. academic institutions have until Aug. 31 to examine specified foreign research ties or risk losing eligibility for future federal research funding. Seven days after the Pentagon ordered the reviews, an Air Force-affiliated institute published a study cataloging 204 interactions involving U.S. institutions and laboratories at the center of China’s defense research system.
The Aug. 24 study by the China Aerospace Studies Institute (CASI) found more U.S. institution-level interactions with China’s Defense Science and Technology Key Laboratories than those involving institutions from any other country.
CASI describes the Defense Science and Technology Key Laboratories as China’s highest level national laboratory network for military research. The contacts it identified ranged from academic visits and conferences to coauthored technical research and formal joint laboratories in fields including aero-engines, underwater sensing, hyperspectral target detection, advanced communications, and aerospace materials.”
The article will blow your mind. I just don’t understand how our universities are allowed to work with the Chinese in this matter. In my mind, their collaboration will lead to American deaths if we ever get into a hot war with China. Heck, maybe they have already given China supplies instruments and technology to both Russia and Iran.
Chinese infiltration in our university system has been a blind spot for many years. It is long past time we take our blinders off. If you don’t believe that China is our adversary, here you go.
A Chinese hacking group has been targeting US government agencies since at least 2018. Some of the groups targeted include the DOJ, DOE, NASA the US Senate.
Every institution in our government appears to be under attack. We really need to fight back.https://t.co/8XABbO4oSV

If you can’t follow the X post here are the details:
“The Justice Department and FBI said a Chinese government-backed hacking group has for years engaged in targeted attacks against hundreds of entities in the United States including NASA, National Institutes of Health, the Department of Health and Human Services, the Justice Department, the Department of Energy, the U.S. Senate and the Federal Reserve.
According to a DOJ statement and an affidavit unsealed Wednesday in federal court in California, a group known as “QTFY” — which includes former members of China’s military — has used its infrastructure to compromise critical infrastructure since 2018 in networks spanning from government agencies, hospitals, telecommunications providers, power companies and defense contractors.”
Unfortunately, the problem of shared technology isn’t limited to the University system. Some of our top companies are involved also. A radio show host back in Nashville used to call this “capitalism without a conscience.”
Why?! https://t.co/A7TB4YpsYa

“American companies helped China build hypersonic missiles. 731 times. An Air Force think tank documented 731 exchanges between American and allied companies or universities and Chinese defense institutes over the past decade. Hypersonics. Explosives. Advanced radar. The exact technology the PLA needs for a Taiwan scenario. Some of the biggest names in American tech are on that list. Honeywell. Cisco. IBM. This isn’t rogue researchers freelancing on the side. This is happening at scale, for a decade, while Washington argued about where the line even is.”
But hold on, it gets worse.
Here are a couple more example of the insanity.
EXCLUSIVE: The Pentagon funded American explosives chemist Jean’ne Shreeve’s work developing next-generation explosives.
She later took that expertise to China’s top weapons university—teaching 140+ people, including scientists from China’s nuclear-weapons complex. pic.twitter.com/08yauRi1Nt

EXCLUSIVE: A taxpayer-funded Pentagon consultant who developed armor, ballistics, shaped-charge and explosives software went to China—and taught researchers from its state weapons complex how to penetrate armor.

Want another example with a different flavor.
A Chinese spy trained as a sniper bought a historic building overlooking the White House. I wonder why. As I have said before China’s responsible for the in fighting and divide as well as misinformation we are seeing online. https://t.co/h30jaf9MOK

I have no idea if the story is real. But you know what is: Chinese ownership of land surrounding critical infrastructure. If there is one thing fundamentally different in the New Cold War with China, it’s that China already has a foothold on US soil. But this isn’t the end of these stories.
I can’t believe this is a headline that needs to be written.
The title of this article is astounding. How have we been allowing people to work for Chinese security agencies?
The Chinese government has been engaged in spying, stealing and subversion for decades. Yet we have not banned working for China’s civilian spy agencies. đź”˝ pic.twitter.com/TRSwSJD39J

Here is your reminder of how China has gotten here. They have a government policy to lie, cheat, and steal. It has been going on for decades.
China’s economic ‘miracle’ was really created by this type of theft
The Chinese government has always encouraged intellectual property theft. State sponsored hackers have been stealing research for decades. The CCP also has programs that reward people who steal trade secrets⬇️ https://t.co/jrlmSkSy2n pic.twitter.com/usunoXOJH3
