It seems one of the weirder things as a parent is not only adjusting to life when one of your children leaves, but also adjusting to life when they come back to visit. Number 1 is home for an extended weekend, got home last Thursday, and we have been up late almost every night just trying to wring out and soak up every moment. Routine be damned. It is worth every second. You know what else is a routine wrecker, a 3-month-old Brittany pup named Pancho. He’s a terror, but man, is he cute. He’s a package deal with Number 1 now. They both leave tomorrow. Off to meet the girlfriend’s parents for the first time. Wish him luck. In other news, home renovations are moving along. Should get to paint this week.
Typically, Lunch Box Quotes are notes I include in the kids’ lunches every day. Number 1 gets a text, and 2-4 get handwritten napkins, but with the school year over, we will be searching for consistency and hopefully a routine. Today, all texts.

1. “A simple rule of good manners: When someone invites you into their home, don’t arrive empty-handed. Even if the host says, “Just bring yourself,” it’s thoughtful to bring a small gift, a bottle of wine, or a bouquet of flowers. A small gesture shows gratitude towards the host.” – The Ways of A Gentleman
