The best days are the simple days. Just me, the kids, and the wife. I know this doesn’t really fit with the community thing going on lower in this post, but both are necessary. I have a ‘local community’ of 6. I really like those 6 and would prefer to keep them.
Day 4: Strength in Togetherness
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (ESV) – “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! … And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”
Life’s challenges are lighter and victories sweeter when shared. Companionship provides practical help, emotional support, and spiritual resilience. Isolation leaves us vulnerable; community multiplies strength.
The line omitted in this Bible Study is important too. (This is why you should always go to the primary source!)…“two people lying next to each other can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone?”
Reflection/Application: Who can you intentionally walk alongside right now—someone who may need lifting up, or someone who can lift you? Reach out today.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for the blessing of my family, for I find much joy in strengthening that foundation upon which all else is built. Let it continue to be strong so we can be strong for others. In Your name I pray. Amen.
Typically, Lunch Box Quotes are notes I include in the kids’ lunches every day. Number 1 gets a text, and 2-4 get handwritten napkins, but for the Summer Edition, there has been no routine, so today, texts for all.
